Yesterday Colin and I had a meeting with Kevin (chairman of the frys committee) to discuss the future of frys badminton club and how the frys club would be involved.
Firstly we were told that the funding we currently receive, 10% of match fees, will be stopping on the 1st of September 2014. That in turn means a few things to frys badminton: 1) What is the advantages to our members by renewing or membership to the fry club? 2) What would frys badminton have to do should we decide to split from the fry club? 1) The advantages to frys badminton members is the availability of all facilities on the fry club site (clubhouse, meeting rooms, football/tennis when available). 2) If frys badminton were to split then several things would have to happen. Firstly we would have to change our name as a club. Secondly fry club have a right, according to the constitution, to seize our current funds and equipment. Although Kevin assured us that unless we had many thousands in the bank it is very unlikely, especially as they have no use for our equipment. In essence as I see it, there is now no advantage to staying members of fry club other than to keep the fry badminton club name as they are no longer going to be funding us. We will speak with members of the committee and the club on Friday to get a general consensus of how the club feels before calling a committee meeting and making a decision. That's all for now! Mat C
